The Nilgiris : The tribal people living along Pillur have urged to restart the road laying works between Pillur Mattam-Yaaniapallam which at present in on hold.
Yaanaipallam tribal housing board is located 22 km away from Coonoor. Sadaiyan Kombai, Chinnalakombai and other tribal villages are located around this region which comes under the 14th ward of Ulikkal panchayat.
The tribal people of these villages walk 6 km to buy provisions and for their other basic requirements. As the mud road leading to these tribal villages have become totally inaccessible, patients and pregnant women are denied timely treatment.
Meanwhile, Rs 1.50 crore was allocated to lay the road from Pillur Mattam till Yaanaipallam for a 1.2 km long stretch. After commencement of work, the project was stalled, shortly. Disappointed by the delay in re-commencing the project, the tribals have requested the officials to commence the road laying works, without any further delay.
