Tirupur: Two teenage boys drowned while bathing in a water-filled quarry pit at Ammapalayam near Tirupur on Sunday.
Tirupur: Two teenage boys drowned while bathing in a water-filled quarry pit at Ammapalayam near Tirupur on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Sethu (14) 9th grade student and Gokul (16) tenth grade student of Kongu main road, Tirupur.
Three friends Sethu (14), Gokul (16) and Sujith (14) went to the quarry pit to spend their weekend. While Sethu and Gokul were bathing, the latter got struck inside a rocky pit in the water and began drowning. Seeing this, Sethu who tried to help him also drowned. Sujith who witnessed the accident rushed for help from the people who were working there.
However, by the time people came there for help the boy had drowned. The police and fire and rescue department rushed to the spot and retrieved the body of the teenagers.
The body of the deceased was sent to Tirupur GH for post mortem examination. The death of the two teenages brought immense grief among the locals.
