The Nilgiris: Urging the tea leaves growers of South India to increase the tea leaves produce, the South Indian Tea Board has asked them to prune 25 per cent of the tea leaves to get more yield.
In a Statement, Paul Raj, Director of the South Indian Tea Board, has said that if pruning is done between the months of April and October, when the growth is generally high, it would help in continuous fresh supply of quality tea leaves from the industry to the market.
“Fresh tea leaves can be supplied without blockage and there would be a good rise in the price and green tea leaves would also get a balanced and profiting pricing,” he said in the release.
The release added that since such type of pruning is not done, it leads to unwanted loss and low produce.
