The Nilgiris: A lorry rolled back due to apparent overloading while negotiating a hairpin bend near Pandian park on Kotagiri road.
The lorry banged on two other cars parked on the road side and stopped. The lorry operator had allegedly overloaded the lorry with soft drinks. Hence, the driver lost control of the vehicle, while driving uphill risking the safety of other road users.

The lorry driver promised to provide compensation to the car owners, Samu and Nandakumar whose cars suffered damages due to the accident. However, as the lorry driver tried to escape without compensating them, the car owners have filed a case with the Kotagiri police.
The public opined that if the lorry had not banged on the cars and stopped, the lorry would have entered into shops and residences and caused huge damage to life and property.
As over-loaded vehicles become vulnerable to accidents, especially along hill routes, the public have urged the roadway department to ensure heavy vehicles are loaded appropriately.
