Coimbatore: A temple priest in Coimbatore has been arrested under the POCSO Act for raping a 8-year old child.
According to reports, Thandabaani (65), the priest of a temple situated at Kondaiyampalayam near Kovilpalayam raped a 8-year old girl inside the temple. The incident is reported to have occurred 20 days ago when the girl was playing near the temple.
Parents of the girl who grew suspicious of foul play after seeing their daughter uncomfortable, took her to a hospital where it was confirmed that the girl had been raped. Following this, the mother of the child filed a complaint at the Kovilpalayam police station.
The police inspector who received the complaint transferred the issue quickly to the District Superintendent of Police after confirming the complaint. Following this, an investigation has been carried out by a team headed by the Inspector of the Thudiyalur All Women Police station, after which Thandabaani was arrested under the POCSO Act.
