Coimbatore : In what could be a second incident of house being damaged by wild elephant in Anaikatti within a week, an elephant damaged a house at Chembukkarai settlement on Thursday night.
Coimbatore : In what could be a second incident of house being damaged by wild elephant in Anaikatti within a week, an elephant damaged a house at Chembukkarai settlement on Thursday night.
The incident occurred around midnight when the elephant approached C. Vellingiri’s house.
In an attempt to find food in the house, the elephant had started damaging the house. It had brought down a wall and had also damaged the roof.
It later left the scene and walked away inside the reserve.
With forests drying out post frequent forest fires, wild animals continue to roam close to human habitations. Foresters have also requested people close to reserve forests to refrain from entering reserve forests.
