Over 500 houses in Padaichery, Cherankodu, and Cherampadi have faced erratic power supply for the past 20 days. "As elephants stray into this area in large numbers, vehicles are not allowed in this area after 7 pm. Low voltage fluctuations have occurred for the past 20 days due to which street lights and other lights do not function properly. Water cannot be fetched from the drinking water well too since the motors do not function properly owing to erratic electricity supply," lamented the residents.

Meanwhile, the Electric Board officials have clarified that the erratic power supply in these areas cannot be sorted out due to less number of staff.
