Coimbatore : DMK candidate for Sulur by-election, Pongalur Palanisamy has stated that the AIADMK MLAs who supported TTV Dhinakaran are disqualified only because DMK will emerge victorious in the by-election.
Addressing the media, Pongalur Palanisamy who is fielded as the candidate for the Secular Progressive Alliance said, "DMK is contesting in the Sulur by-election after many days. As the election is taking place at a crucial stage, it is seen as an important election by the ruling party. As there are chances for DMK to emerge victorious in the by-election, the AIADMK has sought to disqualify all the MLAs in the ruling party. This move was made since the DMK coalition will emerge victorious, for sure," he added.
Speaking on various issues, Pongalur Palanisamy opined, "The Anaimalai-Nallaru scheme will be fulfilled soon, which is the prolonged demand of the farmers in Parambikulam-Aliyar irrigation region. 30,000 power looms were closed due to the implementation of GST and demonetization. The State government did not do anything good for the neglected sections of Sulur constituency. Pension for elders has not been distributed effectively in most of the region and even the 100-day scheme was not implemented effectively. In the Lok Sabha election that just drew to a close in Tamil Nadu, the DMK alliance will emerge victorious. AIADMK which was split into two and three teams has turned out to be a puppet for the Central government," slammed Pongalur Palanisamy.
"People are affected largely by various issues including NEET exams. No development work has been carried out in the Sulur legislative assembly constituency. Measures will be taken to open a 'power loom park' in Sulur which is the long-pending request of the power loom workers. Also, a four-way road will be laid between Karur-Coimbatore. Rumours are rife regarding the demise of the late former MLA Kanagaraj. The issue will be taken to the DMK head if we receive any requests to ascertain the cause of his death, said Pongalur Palanisamy.
"I will win in the by-election as people in this constituency are very much familiar to me. Also, we will oppose the Central government’s attempt to install high power tower in agricultural fields," he added. In reply to the query that violations were made in filing the nomination, Pongalur Palanisamy said that there was a misunderstanding because of wrongly taking into account the alternate candidate, which was cleared.
