Vijayaragavan of Naam Thamilar party said, “We are going to campaign projecting water resource problems. As per the election rule, our vehicle was stopped 100 metres ahead of the office, but the DMK candidate’s vehicle was allowed up to the entrance. We are going to complain regarding this to the Election Commission," they added.
Ponkarthikeyan of Hindu Makkal Katchi slammed the alleged bias of the Election Commission saying, "The symbols of independent candidates are not given as photos. The names of the symbols are mentioned in English, which will be difficult to recognize. The Election Commission is treating registered parties and independent candidates with bias," they alleged.
Prabhakaran, who is contesting as an independent candidate on behalf of the "People’s Movement against Injustice” said, “I am contesting this election by collecting Rs.1 rupee coins as fund from each member of the public to show them that even a layman can contest the elections. I paid Rs.10,000 deposit amount for my nomination with 10 rupee coins to create awareness among people about the usage of 10 rupee coins. I will campaign highlighting the problems faced by the people,” he reiterated.
DMK candidate Pongalur Palanisami said, “I am contesting this election on behalf of the Secular Progressive Alliance. DMK will definitely win the election in the Sulur constituency. I will release more information at the press meet around 4 pm,” he added.
