The depression formed in the Bay of Bengal has reportedly intensified over the past few days into the FANI Cyclone. The Chennai Meteorological Department has announced that the FANI Cyclone will pass the state's shore between Cudallore– Vedaranyam on the evening of April 30.
Renowned Tamil Nadu weatherman, Pradeep John has predicted that a cyclone was headed toward Tamil Nadu, after 50 years in the month of April. In his Facebook page, Pradeep John has mentioned, “Normally, the April cyclone has struck Burma, previously. But the cyclone which was formed during April 1966 struck Tamil Nadu. And the cyclone which has currently formed may head toward Tamil Nadu. We can predict the damage to the districts of Tamil Nadu, only after 24 hours. Since the cyclone is expected to stall because of the ridge, this is going to dump lots of rains wherever it crosses and even in surrounding areas.
Droughts owing to floods can happen in some areas. If this is going to cross Tamil Nadu, one more day will be necessary to accurately say if this is going to be for Tami Nadu. As of now, 60% chances of it heading toward Tamil Nadu. It is always a thrill tracking Nature's wonders and monsters. My heartbeat rises to see each model run. This cyclone, if it crosses near Chennai will solve all our water problems and all our lakes will be filled up to the brim. Sadly, it will be powerful and so we may need to sacrifice some of the trees for sake of water," he opines.
