Coimbatore: It is reported that the Police and National Intelligence Agency (NIA) are investigating the Sri Lankan bomb blast in Coimbatore.

The bomb blasts that occurred on Easter Sunday at three churches and three star hotels in Sri Lanka, claimed about 253 lives and left hundreds injured. The Indian Intelligence had stated that they had intimated Sri Lanka regarding the likelihood of bomb blasts even before Easter Sunday. The Police and NIA officers are inquiring ISIS supporters, suspicious of their connection to the carnage. They are also monitoring people who are in touch with terrorist organizations on social media.

Police have already arrested Ismail, Mohammed Ashik, Shamsuddin, Mohammed Jalaluddin, Jaffer Sadiq Ali, Sahul Hameed of Chennai who planned a murder conspiracy on Arjun Sampath (President, Hindu Makkal Katchi) and Anbumari (President, SAKTHISENA). After identifying these arrested criminals as connected to ISIS during the inquiry, the case was transferred to NIA. The NIA had raided their houses in Chennai, Coimbatore and Dhindivanam areas and seized pen drives, CDs, pamphlets and a few important documents. It was also reported that a few others were also in touch with these six criminals on social media. Hence, NIA is currently inquiring these arrested criminals who are claimed to be ISIS supporters, in connection to the Sri Lankan bomb blast.

Also, sources say that a youngster from Sri Lanka arrived in Coimbatore a few days before the bomb blast and visited several places while meeting many people in the city. NIA is investigating the whereabouts of that youth and the reason for his visit to Coimbatore.
