Coimbatore : Ulavar Ulaippalar Katchi and Tamilaga Vivasaigal Sangam jointly conducted a meeting, ahead of the Sulur by-election.
In the meeting led by the Ulavar Ulaippalar Katchi Chief, Chella Muthu, A V Velu who is in-charge for the Sulur by-election said, "Though Tiruvannamalai is the district with many farmers, agriculture had its inception in the Kongu belt. Comparing Gujarat with Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu is obviously the state with agriculture benefits. All the small scale industries in Gujarat did not have its origin during Modi's regime. They were already there for many years.

While comparing with all other governments, various schemes were implemented only during Kalaignar's period. Free power supply and Rs.7000 crores farmer loans were waived by him. But, at present, farmers are not taken care of. DMK should come back to power to bring a change in farmers' living standards. If Pongalur Palanisamy wins, it means that farmers have won," he said.
Earlier, Chellamuthu of Ulavar Ulaippalar Katchi confidently stated, "It is confirmed that the DMK-Congress alliance will win more than 35 constituencies in the parliamentary election and will win more than 15 constituencies in the legislative assembly election. The Congress Chief, Rahul Gandhi has promised that farmer loans will be cancelled. He has promised to meet the 30-year long demands of farmers. In the DMK manifesto it was ensured that farmer loans, bank loans and jewel loans will be cancelled and cable TV cost will be reduced," he added.
