TTV Dinakaran, the General Secretary of AMMK released a detailed statement raising the question of why there is a delay in the Pollachi Sexual Abuse case investigation.
“The Pollachi sexual assault case which destroyed the lives of hundreds of young women, created a shock wave across the State. Mothers of girls feared the most. The grave incidents which were happening for more than a year came to the limelight only a few months back. But the current status of this case is not known.
Efforts were made to help the accused escape the law at the beginning of the case, with political influence. And a few higher police authorities too supported that. Hence, CBI investigation was insisted to prevent the accused from escaping. In this regard, even after transferring the case to CBI , more than 40 days have gone by but there seems to be no progress in this case. When there is a procedure not to reveal the identity of the victim, the District SP made the mistake of revealing the name of the victim.
The Tamil Nadu government too did the same mistake by mentioning the name of the victim in the GO and directing the case to CBI. Even after the Court ordered to change the GO, we do not know why this delay in the inquiry which is to be handed to the CBI. We do not know whether there is a connection between the delay in letting the CBI handle the inquiry in this case and the alliance between BJP and AIADMK.
The investigation done by the CB-CID police in this case still remains a mystery. We can understand the mental stress of hundreds of affected women and their families who are waiting for justice. But we do not know whether the Government is concerned about this," read the statement.
"A lady SP gave a complaint against her higher authority who is in the GG rank for sexually assaulting her, a year ago. Even after a year, the Edappadi government did not show interest in initiating any inquiry upon that official or to even transfer him. The negligence shown by this government with regard to Women Protection is severely condemnable. I request the Tamil Nadu Government to stop being negligent in this Pollachi incident and hiding the crime.
I request the Government to clear the doubts regarding “who is conducting the inquiry? What is the status of the inquiry? What are the hiccups in transferring the case to CBI? “ and initiate a detailed investigation thereafter. I had already insisted that the Court should monitor this case since there is political influence in this case. I insist the same again and request the investigation to be accelerated to punish the criminals as soon as possible," reiterated TTV Dinakaran in the statement.
