Coimbatore: A special police team has been deployed, intensifying search operations to arrest the five main accused in the murder of a car workshop owner at Podanur. Previously, six of the accused were arrested and imprisoned with regard to the murder on Election Day, April 18.
Parandhaman (36), a resident of Coimbatore Meena estate owned a car workshop at Podanur and was also involved in buying and selling of old cars. On April 18, he was killed by an unidentified gang, reportedly due to business hostility. The Podanur police has arrested Ravi (30), a workshop owner in Goldwins area, Maruthupandi (30) of Chennai, Naveen (25) of Tiruppur, Lokesh of Chennai, David of Perambalur, Karthik of Kumbakonam with regard to the murder and held them at the Coimbatore Central Prison.
The police are now in search of five more men who are also the main accused in the murder case. They are Karthi of Idayarpalayam who worked as a guard in the Tamil Nadu Special Police force a few years ago but was dismissed for a car theft case. More than 40 criminal cases for theft, robbery and kidnapping are pending against him. The special police team has launched a man-hunt for Karthi and his associates in various parts of the State, including Chennai. The police have assured that the criminals will be arrested soon.
