Despite the farmer taking all precautionary measures to save the banana crops by supporting them using bamboo poles, a majority of the plantation could not withstand the swirling winds and heavy rains that lashed the region on Tuesday.
Road blocks were reported on the roads connecting Pandalur and Wayanad. Atleast a dozen of trees were reportedly uprooted, bringing the traffic to a standstill. Until morning, the fire and rescue department could not clear the debris, owing to heavy downpour.
