Coimbatore : The city will catch the maestro Ilayaraja live in concert on June 9, at the CODISSIA grounds.
'Rajathi Raja'- a live concert by Ilayaraja is being organised by Arun Medias and Maham Enterprises which is scheduled for June 9. The event will be sponsored by Milky Mist and Sakthi masala.
Announcing the event to the media, R Arun of Arun Medias and Y G Madhuvanthi of Maham Enterprises said, "Rajathi Raja will be the second live program by the 'Maestro' after the one conducted in Erode Tex valley which was known as 'Eppodhum Raja' which was attended by 50,000 fans.
Ilayaraja will bring in the Budapest Symphony who are 30 musicians along with his orchestra for the musical event. Leading play back singers including Mano and Chitra will participate. This will be Illayaraja's first performance after his 75th birthday, and is his first live performance in Coimbatore." Responding to the query on whether noted playback singer S P Balasubramaniam would also perform at the event, the organisers replied that they are hoping that he would.
S P Balasubramaniam has not been performing in Ilayaraja's concerts after the music director sent a legal notice in March 2017 to SPB against using his songs in any of SPB's live concerts.
