As many as 60 Irular tribes are residing at the Chinnalakkambai Adivasi village near Coonoor. Meanwhile, the area received heavy rainfall yesterday night during which 10 persons - Priya, Kamala, Mallika, Rani, Valli, Selvi, Nagaraj, Dinesh, Arumugam and a pregnant woman Deepa were injured in a lightning strike.
Upon receiving information, 108 ambulance which rushed to the spot got stuck in the slush as there was no proper road to reach the village.
Following this, workers from Coonoor government hospital brought stretcher to the village and took the injured to the hospital today afternoon.
All the injured are being treated in the intensive care unit of the Government Hospital at Coonoor.
