After winning the hearts of TN people, Director Mari Selvaraj's critically acclaimed film Pariyerum Perumal has bagged few more accolades from France's Toulouse Indian Film Fest.
Independent Film Critic Award, Jury Award and Audience Award were the three prestigious award bagged by #PariyanKaruppi, reads the tweet from the movie team.
Pariyerum Perumal, was about the discriminations faced by Dalit community, especially the hurdles and embarrassments unleashed on youngsters who wish to pursue education. Director Maari Selvaraj had beautifully portrayed the oppression of Dalits and the cruelty of caste through Karuppi, the dog of the dalit boy and Pariyan -- the hero of the movie.
The powerful dialogues of the movie clearly presented the humiliation undergone by the Dalit youngsters at educational institutions and unfathomable insults they have been out through by students of upper caste.
One such dialogue in the movie is a conversation between Pariyan's professor and the Principal of the Law College, who himself is a Dalit. "We don't question the upper caste, then why question or do control the lower caste student alone?. It's better they fight instead of committing suicide."
Mari Selvaraj, a writer, made his debut as director with the film.
