Speaking at the campaign, the CPI (M) politburo member G Ramakrishnan said, "The Secular Progressive Alliance will emerge victorious in all constituencies in Tamil Nadu. P R Natarajan has good support in all the six legislative constituencies which comes under the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency. The anti-Modi wave is witnessed across the country whereas in Tamil Nadu the wave is against Edappadi and the parties in his alliance. Both AIADMK and BJP have no answer to the issues raised by the DMK Chief Stalin."
"The BJP candidate C P Radhakrishnan has said that GST did not affect the people. But in the statement submitted by the State government in the Assembly in June 2018, it was noted that 50,000 MSMEs shut down leaving 5 lakh people unemployed," he added.
"Why have they not commented on Nitin Gadkari’s statement on the 8-lane road and on Piyush Goyal's statement that NEET exam is necessary? This proves that both EPS and OPS are slaves for BJP," slammed P R Natarajan.
Speaking at the campaign, the CPM State Secretary, K Balakrishnan said, "On counting day which is May 23, a change in regime will take place at the Centre followed by people in Tamil Nadu overthrowing the Edappadi government. A new regime will be formed in Tamil Nadu which will be headed by the DMK Chief M K Stalin. The Election Commission will face the consequences if they stop election in Velur constituency," he added.
He also questioned why BJP had not used demonetization as a positive policy in their campaigns. "There is a scam case against C P Radhakrishnan. Only to escape from it, he is trying to become MP. Every vote to be cast for us is against NEET, to waive farmer loans and educational loans," he reiterated.
Later, P R Natarajan said, "BJP did not win anywhere in North India. Did raids take place at the houses of Edappadi and Vijayabaskar? Does the police not know anything regarding the Pollachi issue? All will come to light after May 23," he concluded.
