TPDK condemns the atrocities against tribals and TN PWD officers at Parambikulam

TPDK members have condemned against the atrocities staged against the Adi Dravida people and TN PWD officials by Kerala police officials in Parambikulam.

K. Ramakrishnan, General Secretary of TPDK stated that:

Parambikulam is situated at about 4 kms from Topslip. Hundreds of adi dravidar and tribal community people live along the reserve forest area at Parambikulam. The PWD officers of Tamilnadu bring the children of those tribals to the Anamalai government school, Pollachi through their vehicles, for pursuing education. Recently, the Kerala forest officials have banned the entry of Tamil Nadu PWD vehicles at Parambikulam. This act was highly opposed by the tribals and TN PWD officials, as it restraints their children from pursuing education.

The PWD officials Kumar and Thiyarajan of Pollachi along with nine tribal men and women were assaulted by the Kerala police officials, under the orders issued by forest officer, Ajay Kumar. Ajay Kumar hails from the Mandya district, Karnataka, hence he has ordered for this brutal act on the Tamil Nadu PWD officers, as an act of vengeance on the on-going dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The vandalism and riots by Karnataka people on Tamilians and their properties are highly condemnable and now the Parambikulam incident pose a serious threat to the Tamil community people. Such acts could create more tension between the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, hence, the forest officer Ajay Kumar should be transferred with immediate effect, K. Ramakrishnan said.

'We would intensify the protests by gathering more people force, if the atrocities against the tamil community people is unresolved', they exhorted.
