CII hosts 'TIDES - a Leadership Summit'


The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) had organised today a 'TIDES - a Leadership Summit' at hotel Residency, Avinashi Road. The Minister for Railways Thiru. Suresh Prabhu was the Chief Guest for the summit. 



The Summit showcased case studies, guest lectures, presentations on Technology, Innovation, Design, Environment & Entertainment, Spirituality & Sports (TIDES). Budding entrepreneurs, CEO's from Corporates, small-scale industries participated in the event and shared their opinions and views on the leadership summit on “Making the Difference'.



He  emphasised that the Ministry of Railways has been constantly striving to improvise the infrastructural facilities at all Railway stations across the nation, in collaboration with Private sectors and with the unified support of the respective State Governments. So far, 18 states have already expressed their official acceptance for the expansion project and in the Southern region Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Government have registered their official confirmations, he said. The approval from the Tamil Nadu Government is still pending and we hope to receive a positive affirmation soon, he said. 



He further revealed that in countries like China, 140 billion dollars have been allotted towards upliftment of their railways. But in India, this is the first time ever a budget of 1.21 lakh crores has been sanctioned towards upgradation of railways, he said. The alarming situation faced by the Railways in the share market, will soon be rectified, he affirmed. 

At the interactive session, Ravi Sam, Past Chairman CII Coimbatore Zone put-forth the long-pending appeal of the people of Coimbatore for introducing a express train in the night to Bangalore.  The Minister of Railways, Suresh Prabhu responded to his query by assuring that the new train between Coimbatore - Bangalore will start to commence well before the festive season, Diwali.
