Coimbatore : Arputhambal, the mother of Perarivalan who was convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, has embarked on a campaign tour to meet people and garner public support to facilitate the release of seven prisoners, including her son.

The tour is to be called " #25 years enough Governor movement" and began today with the aggrieved mother starting her tour from the city to meet students, members of public and political leaders in all the towns and cities.
K Ramakrishnan, the General Secretary of Periyar Dravida Kazhagam and Pamaran the writer participated in the event.
Later, while briefing the media, Arputhambal said that the Tamil Nadu Governor was sitting on the mercy petition for four and a half months, even though it was sent to him by the State cabinet, as directed by the Supreme Court. She was of the opinion that the Governor’s insensitivity in the matter would set a wrong precedence.
"The convicts, including Perarivalan have spent over 25 years behind bars and should be released soon. Until then, I would carry on my campaign tour to garner support for the immediate release of my son and the other six prisoners," stated Arputhambal.
