100-ft tall tricolour hoisted at Coimbatore Railway Station

Coimbatore : A 100-ft tall tricolour was hoisted at the Coimbatore Railway Station, as per the Centre’s directive which had selected 78 railway stations in the country and ordered that a 100-ft tall tricolour be hoisted in each railway station.

With eight stations from Southern Railways being selected, the Salem Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) U Subbarao hoisted the 100-ft tall tricolour at the Coimbatore Railway Station, which comes under the Salem Division of the Southern Railways. The pole was erected at the cost of Rs. 13 lakhs, and the flag 30 ft in length and 20 ft in breadth. 



Addressing the media later, the Salem DRM U Subbarao said, "Development work is being carried out in the Coimbatore Railway Station. Escalator construction work is being carried out at Platform 1 and 2, at the cost of Rs. 70 lakhs. Multi-level two-wheeler parking construction is expected to be completed by next month and will be opened out to the public next month. Operating the Coimbatore-Pollachi passenger train more regularly will be decided based on the reception from the public."
