Coimbatore : Thousands of the JACTO-GEO members who are on an indefinite strike in Coimbatore since yesterday were arrested by the police today. As part of the strike, about 10,000 JACTO-GEO members protested at nine places in Coimbatore, which included a protest that took place in front of the South Taluk Office here.

Addressing the media, Selvaraj, State organiser, JACTO-GEO said, "Due to our ongoing protest, the State government is planning to continue functioning of government schools with private school teachers.
We are protesting only for our rights. So, the State government should refrain from continuing classes with private school teachers and instead take action to fulfill our demands."
In Nilgiris, hundreds of JACTO-GEO members protested in front of district collectorate. During the protest, they raised slogans to fulfill their demands.
