It is also alleged that she was assaulted by her mother-in-law, following which she was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode from where she was discharged on Monday. All attempts by the police to amicably solve the issue proved in vain when Kanaka Durga’s husband and his family vacated their house and shifted to a rented house.
Meanwhile, Kanaka Durga has been sent to a One Stop Centre for violence-affected women at Perinthalmanna which is managed by the Social Justice Department. She is seeking legal help to get an order under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act to enter her husband’s closed house at Perinthalmanna.
