Tirupur: Arrested under the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a minor girl, Balakrishnan from Thirumangalam, Madurai was sentenced to imprisonment for 17 years by the Tirupur Mahila Court. His kin, Chinnamarimuthu of Udumalpet who aided the crime by providing shelter for the heinous act has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
Tirupur: Arrested under the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a minor girl, Balakrishnan from Thirumangalam, Madurai was sentenced to imprisonment for 17 years by the Tirupur Mahila Court. His kin, Chinnamarimuthu of Udumalpet who aided the crime by providing shelter for the heinous act has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
In February 2015, Balakrishnan who worked at a firm in Amaravathipalayam near Muththur, Tirupur kidnapped a 12-year old girl of a North Indian family which worked at the same firm. He took the girl to the house of his kin Chinnamarimuthu at Udumalpet and assaulted her sexually. A case was registered against Balakrishnan at the Kangeyam All Women Police Station under various sections, including the POCSO Act and also for kidnapping.
A case was also registered against Chinnamarimuthu. During the hearing of the case at the Tirupur All Women Court, the judge sentenced Balakrishanan to 17 years of imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs. 20,000 on him. Chinnamarimuthu was sentenced to 10 years and was levied a fine of Rs.15,000.
