Coimbatore: "No gesture is too small to make a difference so let’s start today. So, let's join hands to fulfil the dream to increase the forest cover of our nation from 24.39% to 33%", vowed the students of GRD College of Arts and Science as part of their College's 'Life for All' initiative.

Coimbatore: "No gesture is too small to make a difference so let’s start today. So, let's join hands to fulfil the dream to increase the forest cover of our nation from 24.39% to 33%", vowed the students of GRD College of Arts and Science as part of their College's 'Life for All' initiative.

'Life for All' believes that by protecting nature one protects humanity. In a bid to spread the cause, the students of the college planted 150 saplings alongside the road from Govanur to Rayaruthupathy. MLA.V.C.Arukutty of Kavundampalayam constituency joined the students to motivate them to support the most important environmental concerns at the moment.

According to a release from the College, "The rapid increase in economic development has attributed to the loss of 14,000 sq km of forest land which have been cleared to accommodate 23,716 industrial projects. However, a recent report by the India State of Forest Report (ISFR), India has recorded a one percent increase in overall forest and tree cover i.e. from 7,01,673 square kilometers to 7,08,273 square kilometers between 2015 and 2017. Hence, efforts need to to made today to secure a better, greener future of the generations to come".

The students also evoked the wise words of Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world" and worked with zeal to bring more green cover.
