Envisaging a total investment of Rs.3100 crores by the Ordnance Factory Board, Defence Public Sector undertakings and the Private Sector in Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor (TNDIC) will pave way to develop Tamil Nadu and facilitate further investment in TNDIC, the release said.
"This Defence Corridor will create enormous scope for scaling up production of defence products through MSMEs thus boosting indigenous production of defence equipments and ensuring connectivity among various defence industrial units", the communique from ICCIC noted.
Thanking the government for sanctioning India's first Defence Innovation Hub to CODISSIA, at Coimbatore, ICCIC has appealed to the government for sourcing of components from Coimbatore MSMEs.
The release also extended gratitude to the State government for all the support in bringing this project to Tamil Nadu and also request the TN government to form Defence Clusters in nodal cities for attracting investments in the corridor.
