Coimbatore : Police arrested three members of an extortionist gang who abducted and threatened a Secretary of a town cooperative union after taking photos of him with a woman in a compromising position.
According to the police, Saravana Kumar (51) of Velandipalayam was abducted by a gang of five who took photos of him in a compromising position with a woman in a half nude position. The gang members then threatened to expose him and extorted Rs.50 lakhs over a two-year period.
On being repeatedly tortured for money, Saravana Kumar filed a formal police complaint, following which the Saibaba colony police arrested Padmanabhan, a financier, Vishnu Kumar and Nagarajan. The police are on the lookout for two other men Karthikeyan and Ayyappan who were part of the gang.
