Coimbatore : Devotees from various parts of the district thronged the Kulundhai Velayudha Swami temple at Kurundha Malai, near Karamadai to celebrate the 'Thaipusam' festival.
Coimbatore : Devotees from various parts of the district thronged the Kulundhai Velayudha Swami temple at Kurundha Malai, near Karamadai to celebrate the 'Thaipusam' festival.
The 'Thaipusam' festival began on January 15 with a flag hoisting ceremony in Kulundhai Velayudha Swami temple at Kurundha malai near Karamadai. Following this, various poojas were held and the Amman idol was brought to the temple on January 19. ‘Kalyana Urchavam’ held at 5 am on Sunday was followed by an elephant procession on the night of the same day.

Meanwhile, the chariot procession of the Kulandhai Velayudha Swami with Valli Dheivanai was held at 6 am yesterday, followed by the Thiruther Vadam at 4 pm. MLA Chinnaraj inaugurated the chariot procession which went around the ‘Radha roads’ around Kurundha Malai following which ‘Anna Dhanam’ was provided to the devotees.
