Thai Poosam at Maruthamalai ends with 'Therottam'; devotees cheer chanting 'Arohara Arohara...'

Coimbatore: Thousands of devotees marked their presence with religious fervour at Maruthamalai Subramaniyaswami Temple to offer prayers on the auspicious day of Thai poosam on Monday.


Coimbatore: Thousands of devotees marked their presence with religious fervour at Maruthamalai Subramaniyaswami Temple to offer prayers on the auspicious day of Thai poosam on Monday. 

Chanting 'Arohara Arohara...", the devotees took part in the 'Thiru Therottam' (car procession) today evening at the temple premises. The devotees lend a hand in pulling the 'Ther' in which the decorated deity along with his consorts Valli and Deivanai were placed.



Devotees from various part of the State reached the temple with 'Kavadi' and 'Paal Kudam' to offer their prayers to Lord Muruga. 



Free bus services from foothills to the temple were offered by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation. More than 250 police were deployed to ensure security during the festival.



Similarly, Thai poosam was celebrated with zeal at the 1300 years old Kotai Sangameswarar Temple, here. More than thousand devotees participated in the temple car pulling event.
