Coimbatore : In a bid to create more app users and to sensitise the college students on how the newly launched 'E-Eye' works, the District Traffic Police interacted with the students of Avinashilingam College, here today.
Coimbatore : In a bid to create more app users and to sensitise the college students on how the newly launched 'E-Eye' works, the District Traffic Police interacted with the students of Avinashilingam College, here today.
More than 3500 students of the college took part in the meet during which Deputy Commissioner (Traffic), Sujith Kumar emphasised to the students on the importance of adhering to traffic rules and why public should use the "E-eye" app to report traffic violations they witness, to the police.
Briefing on the app, DC Sujith Kumar told the students "As and when you come across traffic violations like not wearing helmet, unruly parking, over speeding, drink and drive, accidents, jumping signals etc., click a picture of the violation and post in the app. The app will trace the GPRS location of the user and guide the police to attend the complaint immediately".
"Escalating traffic irregularities to the police will help us address the issue swiftly and initiate legal action on the violators", he added.
The DC also revealed that so far, 3500 people have downloaded the app and they expect to hit a target of 25000 users by the end of January. He also noted that Rs. 3,50,000 has been collected as fine as until through the 2000 complaints raised through the app.
Assistant Commissioners (traffic) Kodi Selvam, Raj Kanna and Traffic Inspectors Shanmugham and Sadhasivam were present.
