Coimbatore : S P Velumani, the Minister for Municipalities inaugurated a new power substation at Thondamuthur, yesterday. Costing Rs,6 crores, the substation is expected to help Thondamuthur tide over the power disruption problems in the area.

Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the Thondamuthur area was supplied with 11 kg watt power supply form Madam Patti and Devarayapuram substations on two transmission corridors. He added that the new substation will help address the problems of load shedding and power loss, and help increase the uninterrupted power supply to the area.
The Minister said, "Over 31.56 lakh units of power loss costing about Rs.1.95 crores could be prevented due to the new substation." All areas which come under the Thondamuthur and Thaliar town panchayat will be benefited by the new substation.
