Coimbatore: In a tragic incident, a 38-year-old man from Karumathampatti, hung himself after killing his four family members including his wife and two children, on Saturday.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Antony Arokkiyadas, working as a teacher in a government middle school at Koolipalayam in Tirupur.
He was residing at Amali Nagar in Karumathampatti along with his wife Shobana (30), Rithik Michael (7), Riya Angelin (2) and mother Bhuvaneshwari (65).
Since morning, as none of them came out from their house, neighbours grew suspicious and alerted the police who broke open the door. They were shocked to find Antony hanging in the bedroom room and others lying dead on the bed.
Police retrieved a letter from the crime scene in which Antony has mentioned that he had taken this extreme step to kill his family members by poisoning and hang himself because of the back pain he was suffering from.
Their mortal remains were retrieved and sent to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
The investigation was headed by Superintendent of Police, Pandiyarajan and Karumathampatti Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhaskaran.
