Nilgiris : The presence of wild elephants close to an important road in Athimanagar near Pandalur has created panic among local people here.

The wild elephants that are roaming around the bushes close to the Road near the Dhevala Forest Range in the mornings, are reportedly crossing the road to move in the tea estates that have water sources.

Since people fear that the herd could cross the road at any time, those who use the road have panicked. They are currently being escorted by foresters who block the road whenever the animals intend to cross it.

Notably, a 100 families live in the village.
