Coimbatore : Ahead of Thai Poosam, the District police department have announced traffic restrictions on Monday at Marudhamalai temple.
Four special teams formed under the supervision of the District Superintendent of Police will supervise the 300 policemen deployed for bandobust duty at Marudhamalai Subramaniyar temple on the day of Thai Poosam celebrations scheduled on Monday.
"To regulate traffic, all two-wheelers and four-wheelers are restricted entry from the foothills to the temple. The motorists are advised to park their vehicles at the places alloted for parking and use devasvom buses to reach the temple", said a senior official from the traffic department.
According to an official from Hindu Endowment board "Last year around 2 lakh devotees visited the temple on the occasion of Thai Poosam. This year, we expect more crowd and all due arrangements to manage the crowd for darshan has been implemented. Additional buses from TNSTC will help people from all corners of the district to reach the temple premise".
