Tirupur : In an emotional incident, a college teacher broke down and swooned after he witnessed 1000 charred tree saplings which he and the students had nurtured as the Kalam Vanam (grove) in the Government Chikkanna Arts College campus in Tirupur for the past three years. The saplings were set on fire overnight by unidentified miscreants in the campus.
Tirupur : In an emotional incident, a college teacher broke down and swooned after he witnessed 1000 charred tree saplings which he and the students had nurtured as the Kalam Vanam (grove) in the Government Chikkanna Arts College campus in Tirupur for the past three years. The saplings were set on fire overnight by unidentified miscreants in the campus.
Mohan, NSS officer (Unit 2), also a college teacher at the campus was shell shocked when he was told that over 1000 saplings which were planted and grown in “ Kalam Vanam” in the college campus had been set on fire by miscreants.
The NSS officer who reached the spot, became emotional and broke down weeping bitterly on seeing the charred remains of what used to be a green grove. Unable to bear the loss of the well-grown saplings (grown up to 9 feet), the teacher swooned on the spot. He was rescued by students and later admitted to a private hospital.
The NSS students who were at the college campus to celebrate wildlife week were also shell shocked by the incident.
