Two of the accused, Tamilselvan and Jayaprakash from Vellore surrendered at Chennai High Court recently. They were produced before Judicial Magistrate VII by KG Chavadi police today. Police requested for 10 days of custody and hearing the case, Magistrate Pandi sent the accused to six days of police custody.
Meanwhile, Tirupati crime branch police have recovered Rs 60 lakh worth gold, silver and diamond ornaments which were burgled here. Police have also arrested a mother and his son from Tiruvallur district in connection to this crime.
Rs.92 lakh worth gold, silver jewellery which was being transported to Coimbatore from Kerala by Kalyan Jewellers were stolen in broad daylight near Chavadi here on 7th January. Wilfred (31) and Arjun (22), two of Kalyan Jewellers staff, who were there in the car were attacked and the accused escaped with 350 sovereigns of gold jewellery and 243.32 grams of silver jewellery on that day.
