Coimbatore : Appealing to the public to handover all banned plastic products including disposable plastics, the District Collector, T.N.Hariharan has stated that the plastic items can be handed over to the urban and rural civic bodies including panchayat, town panchayat and Municipal offices.
Coimbatore : Appealing to the public to handover all banned plastic products including disposable plastics, the District Collector, T.N.Hariharan has stated that the plastic items can be handed over to the urban and rural civic bodies including panchayat, town panchayat and Municipal offices.
The District Collector in a press release has stated that "On World Environment Day, the Tamil Nadu government has made a formal announcement to ban plastic items and goods of all microns and subsequently the plastic ban came into force from January 1, 2019".
He also added that "Actor Vivek was roped in as the ambassador for 'Plastic pollution free Tamil Nadu', following which short films were released in theatres to create awareness among the general public on the ill-effects of plastic. A propaganda vehicle was also flagged off by Chief minister Edapadi Palanisamy to spread the idea of plastic-free TN".
