Coimbatore : The Tirupati police have arrested two persons in connection to the gold burglary reported in Coimbatore a few days ago and recovered Rs.60 lakhs worth gold and silver valuables from them.
Coimbatore : The Tirupati police have arrested two persons in connection to the gold burglary reported in Coimbatore a few days ago and recovered Rs.60 lakhs worth gold and silver valuables from them.
In the burglary that was reported on January 7, a car travelling with 350 sovereign of gold ornaments and 243.320 grams of silver to the Kalyan Jewellers branch at Gandhipuram here, was rammed into by two cars from behind near K.G. Chavad. Subsequently, a 10-member gang from both cars broke the car glasses of the car with valuables and drove away in the same car, leaving behind the employees of Kalyan Jewellers who were travelling in the car. The gang left the vehicle behind in Coimbatore after looting all the valuables in the car. Following a report on the burglary, seven special police teams were formed to nab the culprits.
Meanwhile, the Tirupati Crime Branch police recovered Rs.60 lakhs worth gold, silver and diamond ornaments that were reported burgled. They arrested a mother and son from the Tiruvallur district in connection to this crime. According to the police, investigations revealed that the burglary on the car with jewellery was carried out by Pairoj, son of Rasool of Tiruvallur district, along with a few of his friends. After giving away some of the burgled jewels to his gang members, he handed over Rs.60 lakhs ornaments to his mother Sama and his brother Ahmed Saleem. Fearing they would be caught, Sama and Ahmed Saleem travelled to various cities with the ornaments. They were caught at Tirupati yesterday and handed over to the Coimbatore district police, today. Police are still searching for all those linked to this burglary.
