Coimbatore : The sight of trained Kumkis marching in a row garnered the attention of hundreds of tourists who thronged Topslip near Anamalai today, to celebrate ‘Kaanum Pongal’ with elephants from Kolikamuthi Elephant Camp.
Coimbatore : The sight of trained Kumkis marching in a row garnered the attention of hundreds of tourists who thronged Topslip near Anamalai today, to celebrate ‘Kaanum Pongal’ with elephants from Kolikamuthi Elephant Camp.

18 trained elephants from the camp were well-decorated with garlands and brought for the annual ‘Yaanai Pongal’ celebration at Topslip.

The Mahouts performed special poojas for the elephants and fed them Pongal, fruits and Sugarcane. The tourists especially children were enthralled to see the elephants relish pongal and sugarcane.

The tribals of the area also took part in the celebration and offered prayers to the Jumbos.
