This noon, the estate workers of Muthiri tea estate situated near Dolphin House, Coonoor spotted a leopard cub battling for life inside an open well situated in the estate. They then alerted the forest department who arrived to the spot and commenced the rescue operations.

Forest officer, Periyasamy headed the rescue operations. The team lowered a wooden ladder and successfully pulled out the leopard cub from the well.
After a routine veterinary check-up, the cub was released into the nearby forest. The forest officials have warned the villagers to stay alert, as the mother leopard could be around the vicinity.
