The Nilgiris : An adult bison gored a motorist near Manjoor in Coonoor, today.
Rejinesh (40), a private company employee from Manjoor was travelling from Coonoor back to Manjoor, when an adult bison gored him. The bison reportedly was grazing behind a bush on the road but attacked the motorist when he passed by.
Hearing his cries for help, other commuters and people working in the estate rushed to the spot and saved him. They rushed him to a private hospital in Coonoor but since he needed intensive care, he was taken to the Ooty Government Hospital.
The public have urged forest officials to chase the bison away from the estates and into deep forest areas, since this is a regular occurrence with bisons straying onto roads frequented by motorists.
