According to police, the accused has attempted to snatch and flee with a handbag of a passerby woman who was returning from work near Eswaran Kovil here. The woman alerted the public nearby immediately and they nabbed the thief. Several instances of snatching were reported in the area and doubting that the accused would have done it, public thrashed him for over 10 minutes and handed him over to police.
The accused was Sathish from Rajapalayam. Sathish confessed to police that he works at a bore well firm here and his money was stolen while he was drunk. Hence, he attempted to snatch a woman’s handbag. Police are investigating whether there are any other cases registered upon him.
