Tirupur: Tirupur public nabbed a fraudster and handed him over to police today for swindling Rs 56 lakhs promising government jobs using the name of Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan. Tirupur North police have registered a case and investigating.

According to police, Rajeshwaran, a resident of Valipalayam here has approached Sai Arun for a government job. Sai Arun has allegedly convinced Rajeshwaran that he is in close relationship with Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan’s alleged assistant Karthikeyan and Rajeshwaran would have to pay few lakhs of rupees for the government job.
Trusting Sai Arun, Rajeshwaran deposited Rs 36 lakhs in his account with the help of his friends Pazhanivel, Mahendran and Izaki Durai promising a government job. Earlier, Sai Arun took Rajeshwaran’s bank account’s ATM card and handed it over to Karthikeyan. They withdrew the money from the account and Karthikeyan has contacted Rajeshwaran and friends at regular instances regarding document submissions and job appointment orders.
Karthikeyan allegedly said Rajeshwaran that the money was withdrawn for Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan. Also, somebody spoke to them in Girija Vaidyanathan’s voice and promised them job offers soon.
Since they didn’t receive any appointment orders, feeling doubtful, they tried contacting Sai Arun and Karthikeyan but their phone numbers were switched off. Later, they came to know that Sai Arun is hiding in Chennai and based on the information, Rajeshwaran and friends nabbed him from Chennai and handed him over to Tirupur North police. Knowing this, six other persons complained against Sai Arun at Tirupur North police today and told that they were cheated to a tune of Rs 20 lakhs on the same promise.
Police fear that there may be many more victims. Police are on the lookout for the person who mimicked like Chief Secretary.
