Coimbatore : Work has commenced to install escalators on platforms 1 and 2 of the Coimbatore Central Railway Station at the cost of Rs.75 lakhs. Alongside, the stairs on the left side of the platforms are being broken down.

Speaking on this, one of the railway officials opined, "Different kinds of renovation work are being carried out for the benefit of the passengers at the Central Railway Station, here. As part of this, work has began to install escalators on platforms 1 and 2 which is expected to be completed in 4 to 5 months."
