Coimbatore : In a 'soulful' attempt to take adults back down memory lane, a colouring book for adults 'Soulful Journey' by Simran Wahan was launched on January  4, in the city.

Vanitha Mohan of Siruthuli released the book in front of a select audience. The book has a collection of mandalas, illustrations and drawings which can be used for colouring.

Speaking at the event, Shankar Vanavarayar , Joint Correspondent, Kumaraguru College of Technology said, "Art as a therapeutic tool has proved to be a sure shot relief from the everyday stress in our lives. Not only is Art therapeutic but also helps us in arriving at better decision-making. A colouring book for adults may sound childish but it actually takes us down to our childhood and makes us look at life in a different perspective."

Poet Srividya Sivakumar explained how colours are an integral part of our daily lives. Speaking about the author, she said, "Colours add magic to life and Simran Wahan has brought in magic through her collection of drawings. The book takes us to our childhood days when we look at a page with full of ice creams to colour and many more things that we can relate to our childhood. A colouring book for adults is something unheard of a few years ago but now colouring books for adults prove to be the best stress-buster in our lives."

Vanitha Mohan equated colouring with meditation that brings peace of mind. " Colouring makes us focus our minds without wandering into a hundred different thoughts which we normally encounter during meditation. It takes us down our memory lane and once we finish colouring an intricate drawing, it also brings a sense of accomplishment and self- satisfaction."

The author of Soulful Journey, Simran Wahan while talking about her book said, "It is a journey of my life and most of my drawings are an expression of my values which I hold dear to my heart. A butterfly in my book is a symbol of freedom and a dragon fly takes me back to my childhood."

The book is available to purchase at the Amaya Store in Race Course and on https://www.instamojo.com/simranwahan/soulful-journey/
