Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister, S.P. Velumani flagged off the State government's Pongal gift scheme in Coimbatore -- Rs.1000 for 10 lakhs card holders in Coimbatore.
District Collector, T.N Hariharan supervised the Pongal gift distributions that commenced at Ondipudur Co-operative loan society here, today. Minister S.P.Velumani participated in the function and distributed the Pongal gift to 10,04,532 card holders.
Speaking at the function, the Minister said, "Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy inaugurated the Pongal gift scheme in Chennai, as part of which Rs.107.5 crores has been allocated for Coimbatore district".
"Necessary action has been initiated to implement flyover works at SIHS Colony which has been the long pending demand of the residents", he added.
Later, the Minister visited the ration shops at Ramanathapuram, Sugunapuram, Kuniyamuthur, Karumbu Kadai, Selvapuram, Telungupalayam, Thondamuthur, Kovai Pudur and distributed pongal gifts.
Maheswaran, Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, District Revenue Officer, Durai Ravichandran and MLAs PRG Arunkumar, V. C. Arukutti, Amman K. Arjunan participated in the function.
