Strangers impersonate as police, swindle 3 crore 90 lakhs


A shocking cheating incident has been reported in the City, today. Four traders, who were enroute to Malappuram, Kerala from Chennai were cheated by strangers, swindling 3 crores and 90 lakhs worth of cash.

Reports indicate, that the four traders were enroute to Malappuram, Kerala after trading some high-worth jewellery at Chennai for Rs.3 crores and 90 lakhs. While they were on their way back to Kerala, a few strangers impersonating them as Police stopped their Vehicle at the L&T bye pass road, Coimbatore. The strangers enquired them officially and asked for the receipt for the cash they were carrying with them.

Later, the strangers asked the traders to come with them to the police station for further inquiry. The traders were left with no choice and hence hesitantly accompanied them in their jeep.  They stopped the jeep at the Pollachi junction and the fraudsters asked the traders to get down from the car and pushed off from the spot immediately. 

The traders reported the incident to the Madukkarai Police Station. A case has been registered at the Madukkarai Police station and two special teams have been formed under S.P Ramyabharathi and D.S.P Krishnamoorthy. The special teams are scrutinizing the CCTV footages in the areas to get any clues on the fraudsters.
