Coimbatore : S. Sengoda Gounder Educational Trust along with the Shri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology organised a three-day Agri expo Velaan Thiruvuzha 19' from January 4 to 6, 2019 at its campus on the L&T Bypass road.
Coimbatore : S. Sengoda Gounder Educational Trust along with the Shri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology organised a three-day Agri expo Velaan Thiruvuzha 19' from January 4 to 6, 2019 at its campus on the L&T Bypass road.
The festival was organised to create awareness on the agricultural sector and cattle. The three-day extragavanza showcased native cattle technological, dogs and latest innovations in agricultural practices.
On January 4, the inaugural ceremony of the festival began with a flag hoisting ceremony followed by a “Ko pooja” of 108 cows. On January 5, in the second day of the festival over 300 varieties of dwarf cows, breeds of cows across Tamil Nadu , rare breeds of country dogs, fighter cock birds were showcased at the livestock exhibition. Competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed.
An exhibition on the history of food produce -- innovative practices followed and the technological developments in the agricultural sector were also showcased. Various banks also participated to create awareness on the loans available for the farming community.
An Agri Seminar on “Why should we switch to Nature” was held on January 6. Mr.S.R.Sundararaman Iyer and Mr. Madhuramakrishnan (Natural Farmers) spoke on the occasion.
Today being the final day of the festival, rekla race- 200 mts and 300 mts competition began at 7.30 am where over 300 bull carts participated. Gold coins worth 8 gms, 6 gms and 4 gms amwere distributed as prizes for Ist, 2nd and 3rd places in the rekla race competition.
The Director of Renaissance power products Pvt. Ltd, Rajkumar Armugam and the Correspondent of Shri Sakthi engineering and technology Dr. Thangavelu participated in the event.
Saravan Kumar, Chartered accountant and Deepan Thangavelu, Secretary of the college distributed the prizes at the valedictory function for the rekla race winners.
Over 10,000 people and students from various colleges participated in the event.
